Laminated glass is the result of the permanent bonding of two or more sheets of glass with one or more intermediate layers of polyvinylbutyral (PVB) by means of heat and pressure. Glass and interlayers (interlayer) offer a wide variety of colors and thicknesses to meet building standards and requirements. Laminated glass can break, but the fragments usually adhere to the plastic layer (PVB) and remain largely intact, reducing the risk of injury.
Laminated glass is considered a “safety glass” because it meets the requirements established in the different European laws and standards for construction. Thermoset glass and tempered glass can be incorporated into laminated glass units to further strengthen impact resistance. Protection against shock waves from bombs, acoustic attenuation and bulletproof or security protection are the main uses of laminated glass.
Glass combinations are available according to the customer’s needs ranging from a 3+3 mm laminated glass to a Multilaminate (bullet protector)
